Organ-on-a-chip (OOC) products can be used to build models for in-vitro drug testing that mimic biological systems. In these models, cells can be cultured on a membrane with separately controllable fluid flows above and below. Because of the controllable fluid flows, the OOC product more accurately represents the biological system than traditional in-vitro applications. This leads to more accurate results, which gives the entire drug testing process a better starting position. Because OOC flow cells are resealable, they allow cell seeding to be done through traditional protocols.

An organ-on-a-chip (OOC) is a microfluidic cell culture device designed to replicate the structure, functions, and physiological responses of an entire organ or organ system. In OOC processes, a cell culture membrane is placed between two resealable glass slides, creating two distinct flow chambers. For additional details, visit our dedicated page on cell culturing.
