Project NextGenMicrofluidics: Customized Microfluidic Lab-on-a-Foil systems
- News & Events
- Apr 1, 2020
At the start of April 2020, Micronit joined the NextGenMicrofluidics Project.
Thin and flexible foils offer new ways for microfluidic platforms, like the creation of easily deformable chambers. This paves the way for new means of on-chip reagent storage or fluid transport. From an economical perspective, lab-on-a-foil systems are mostly based on low-cost materials, which is attractive for the high-volume fabrication of autonomous disposable chips. The foil platforms that the NextGenMicrofluidics consortium is working on, are suitable for several applications, for example, biochemical assays or medical diagnostics. The platforms are mainly polymer-based, but the consortium is also using innovative materials, such as biodegradable thermoplastics.
Main goal of the project
Developing customized microfluidic lab-on-a-foil systems.
