Micronit has been awarded, together with partners Demcon industrial systems, Surfix Diagnostics and Enzyre, a grant for its project to develop lab-on-a-chip test modules. The COVID-19 pandemic has increased the demand for fast, intelligent, and easy-to-use medical tests, and this project aims to address this need.
The project involves the development of various modules for assembling lab-on-a-chip tests, which will be tested in a pilot production line. The consortium aims to bring two existing lab-on-a-chip tests to a pre-production phase. Currently, lab-on-a-chip tests are often manually assembled. The pilot production line's goal is to produce sufficient lab-on-a-chip tests for clinical validation.
The modular design of the system allows for the development of process steps that are broadly applicable and promote innovation and acceleration. Upon successful completion of the project, this will also be made accessible for measuring complex tests by healthcare professionals.
The grant will support the development of these lab-on-a-chip test modules, which will enhance the speed and efficiency of medical testing, particularly in the context of the ongoing pandemic. Micronit is confident that the project will have a significant impact on the field of medical diagnostics, and the grant will help to ensure its success.
