Pack of 6 resealable flow cell chips.

Resealable flow cells are an excellent choice when biological content needs to be added on-chip and can't be flushed inside. Resealable flow cells easily make a biological sensor. Just spot or dispense your biological content on the glass slide, place it inside the Fluidic Connect Pro chip holder for resealable flow cells, add the top layer and close the hinge.

Resealable flow cells consist of two layers; a top and bottom layer.

  • The bottom layer is a plain glass slide, with a thickness of 700µm.
  • The top layer is a 1100µm thick glass layer with an elastomer attached to it. The elastomer will define the flow path and seals the top layer.

The resealable flowcells are currently intended for low pressure aplications, up to 300-400mbar. It's strongly recommend to use a pump system with addequate pressure control to assure the pressure will not exceed this value or use a pressure relieve valve.

Customer Questions
How do I clean my uncoated chips?
1) Flush an alkaline solution through the channels, like 1 M sodium hydroxide in water. 2) A water bath with ultrasonic agitation can be used to remove particulated matters, keep energy levels initially low to prevent potential damages. 3) Glass microchips can be heated (e.g. 400°C) causing any organic material on the glass surface to degrade. Try to use lower temperatures first because burning the content could make it stick. 4) Concentrated sulfuric acid works well to dissolve organic material, such as fibres, that are difficult to remove with alkaline solutions.
Can this flow cell be customized?
Absolutely! Micronit is a key supplier for flow cells in the Next Generation Sequencing market and can manufacture flow cells competely according to your specific requirements. What can be customized? The channel shape. The channel height and width. For wet etching its important to consider that channel height and minimal channel width are related.<br>{minimal channel width} = 2 * {etch depth} + {initial mask opening, typcial 5-10µm}Larger aspect ratios (relation between channel depth and width) are possible using dry etching. For this, a glass/silicon combination is most common. Choice of material. For instance, fused silica is a good option when UV light is used. Schott D263 bio can be a good alternative for some specific fluorescent labels. Surface flatness. We can provide ultra flat surfaces.
I have a Elveflow OB1 pressure based pump what connectors do I need?
You need a combination of items supplied by Elveflow and Micronit. Please take a look at the full answer for more details.
I have a Fluigent pressure based pump, what connectors do I need?
See "Read More" for advice.
What's important in selection of a suitable microscope objective?
The objective working distance is a critical parameter for selection of an objective. See "Read More" for recommendations.
What pump system should I use for a resealable flow cell or OOC chips?
It's important that the pressure system can limit the amount of pressure that will be applied. We would recommend a pressure based system. However it should be possible to use a syringe pump when a pressure relief valve is applied for each liquid path.
How should I connect the chips to a pump?
Micronit offers a range of chip holders designed to ensure reliable and convenient interfacing between your chip and fluidic tubing. See "Read More"for additional information and links.
Are there alternatives to a chip holder?
While alternatives to a chip holder are available, their implementation is complex and not generally recommended. Further information can be found under “Read More”.
Are combi-packs available, or can pack contents be mixed?
We understand your interest in exploring different options; however, it’s important to have a sufficient number of chips of the same type to ensure consistent and reliable experimental results — as one test is not test. For this reason, we do not offer combi-packs. Mixing the contents of existing packs is also not possible for practical reasons.
How do I sterilize my resealable flow cell's / OOC top and bottom layers?
Advice on sterilization of glass slides and glass slides without gasket can be found under "Read More".
How do I clean my resealable flow cell's / OOC top and bottom layers?
The glass layer without a gasket can be cleaned using the same methods commonly used for glass microscope slides. The gasket layer, however, requires more careful handling. For detailed instructions, see "Read More".
What are the dimension of the available view window using the resealable / OOC chip holder?
The available view window is 25x12mm, see "Read More" for details.
What is the oxygen permeability data for the elastomer used?
More details on oxygen permeability can be found under "Read More".
